From small town roots . . .

The old firehouse and new downtown PleasantonSince its incorporation in 1894, Pleasanton has grown from a very small town of 500 residents to a thriving suburban community. A shining example of our historic roots is the old firehouse on Railroad Avenue in downtown Pleasanton. Built in 1929, Fire Station One was constructed with bricks from Pleasanton’s Remillard Brick foundry. Now, this treasured building is ready to serve the Pleasanton community in a new way as the stunning home of a theater and visual arts center.

Drawings of the inside and outside of the new Firehouse Arts CenterThe historic stationhouse will be completely renovated and transformed into an arts center with a state-of-the art studio theater, a spacious art gallery, two full classrooms, a grand lobby and office space. The 17,000 square foot facility will also serve as the catalyst for the continuing transformation of downtown Pleasanton from a beautiful street into a thriving cultural district that further enhances our community’s quality of life. The new Firehouse Arts Center will become a focal point that will stimulate the economic growth and vitality of Pleasanton’s downtown core. This will be key to leading Pleasanton to the next stage in its evolution, offering residents all of the amenities, including arts and cultural opportunities, close to home.
