TITLE:
DOWNTOWN
ARTIST: AMY LEUNG
Amy lived and worked in many places around the world, including New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei and Geneva before moving to the Bay Area. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Pratt Institute in New York and worked in advertising and publishing. While in Japan, Amy studied under a master of ikebana sogetsu-style flower arrangement and sumie water color painting. She also studied figure drawing at Ecole de Beaux Art in Geneva.
While her artistic exposure and background are multi-faceted,
Amy's main passion since childhood has been in painting, especially
oil and pastel. Amy's favorite subjects are landscape, cityscape,
seascape, still life and animals. Amy typically begins each painting
with a carefully thought-out "feeling" about the subject
matter. As she commits her inner thoughts to canvas, she focuses
on conveying her emotions and sensitivity about the concept,
and then the subject matter to the viewer. The ultimate satisfaction
is to reach out and touch the viewer deeply through her work.
Amy has won many awards in juried art shows both nationally
as well as in local communities. One of Amy's recent paintings
is juried at Salon International 2009 — the 8th Annual Exhibition
sponsored by Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art. She is a member
of Oil Painters of America, National Oil & Acrylic Painter's
Society as well as the Pleasanton Art League and the Livermore
Art Association. |
