TITLE:
THE MUSIC LESSON
ARTIST: SUSAN T. BLAKE
Susan Blake began taking pictures as a child with a box camera
that was in her parent's linen closet. She took her first photography
and darkroom class when she was in elementary school, and remembers
that her first picture that attracted attention was of treetops
laden with snow.
Susan progressed to taking art photographs of nature, cityscapes
and people at street fairs, open markets and a variety of unusual
locations. She continued her informal photographic education
while working at a neighborhood camera store during her college
years.
Two decades later, Susan has made the leap to the digital world
and is gaining attention for her eye for composition, creative
nature photography and photojournalist shots of everyday people
in both common and uncommon situations.
She notes, "My photography focuses on textures and contrasts
and on unexpected situations. My goal is to capture views that
help people to notice the world around us, see that world differently,
and remember to look up." |
