Child painting and youth theater groupPleasanton is a community with extremely strong support for education. Many families choose to live in Pleasanton for its excellent education system. Educational research clearly illustrates that the arts are recognized as one of the core components of a well-rounded education that prepares students for the working world, for their roles and responsibilities as citizens and for life in an increasingly interdependent and culturally diverse world.

The Pleasanton Unified School District's recently released Excellence Study recommended the hiring of visual and performing arts specialists at each school in the district to ensure that all students have access to strong and varied visual and performing arts classes. Clearly, our community understands the value of the arts in the lives of our children and youth.

Community resources that provide exposure to the arts, enrichment and entertainment through the arts all offer valuable support and enhancement to an in-school arts education. The Firehouse Arts Center will fulfill this role for students of all ages and will dramatically impact the overall educational experiences of our community's children and young people.

From music and painting to writing and performance, it has been well documented that children receive lifelong personal and academiv benefit from the opportunity to experience the arts in school. Pleasanton Unified is committed to arts' inclusion as part of the curriculum and looks forward to a continuing partnership with the community to support this endeavor.
