The Pleasanton Cultural
Arts Foundation (PCAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
incorporated in 2004 to take the lead role in advocating for
the Firehouse Arts Center including the securing of private
funds, corporate donations and foundation grants to support
the construction of the Firehouse Arts Center in downtown Pleasanton
and to fund ongoing arts activities within Pleasanton.
PCAF was formed as an extension of the Pleasanton
Cultural Arts Council. The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council (PCAC)
was incorporated in 1974 to promote appreciation of the arts,
provide facilities for arts activities and create an environment
where residents can pursue and enjoy a wide range of cultural
opportunities. PCAC actively supported and rallied community
support for the construction of the Cultural Arts Building
to house arts activities. In the early 1980's,
PCAC members led a cooperative effort with the City of Pleasanton
and the Pleasanton Unified School District to sponsor an $800,000
capital campaign to renovate the Amador Theater.
PCAF is currently overseen by a nine-member Board of Directors
and is staffed by a full-time Campaign Coordinator hired in
June 2006.
